the good news
Have you ever heard the word "gospel" and wondered what it really means?
It simply means “good news”! And the good news of Jesus isn’t just history or an old story from the past — it’s a message that can completely change your life right now and shape your future for eternity.
To help you understand this powerful truth, we’ve broken it down into fIve simple parts.
As you read through these steps, our hope is that you’ll see why this really is the best news.
1 - THE PURPOSE
The most important truth you need to know is this:
God sees you, knows you, and loves you deeply. You are not here by accident — He created you on purpose and for a purpose (Ephesians 2:10)
Secondly, God isn’t a distant or angry judge; He’s a loving Father who wants a real relationship with you.
No matter what your past looks like or how others have treated you, God’s love for you is perfect and unchanging. And that love isn’t just for this life — He created you to spend eternity with Him.
2 - THE SEPARATION
The bad news first: Sin creates distance.
We were born into a sinful world and sin is all around us. Evil is everywhere, we can’t hide from it. Sin isn’t just a list of bad behaviours — it’s our inner desire to go our own way instead of following God. And because God is perfectly holy, and pure, sin creates a separation between us and Him — a gap we can’t fix on our own, no matter how hard we try.
Left unresolved, this distance doesn’t just impact our life today — when we breathe our last breath here on the Earth, it leads to eternal separation from God.
3 - THE SOLUTION
But here’s the good news: God bridged the gap.
Because of His great love, He no longer wanted us to live in separation, so He sent the most precious thing He had — Jesus, His Son — who was both fully-God and fully-man.
WHY JESUS?
Jesus lived an innocent life, He was tempted in every way that we are, and yet lived without sin. Only Jesus could fix this problem. It’s like this, we broke God's law - Jesus paid the fine for us in full on the cross.
Even better news: Three days later, by the power of the Holy Spirit, God raised Him from the dead, defeating sin and death once and for all.
Jesus is the only one who could bridge the gap between us and God. Through Him, we can be forgiven, made new, and promised eternal life. He is the only way to the Father (see John 14:6).

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. no one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
4 - THE INVITATION
So, how do you respond to all of this?
The forgiveness and eternal life Jesus offers is a free gift to us, yet it cost Jesus everything.
Like any gift, it has to be received - the way you receive it, is to turn away from your sin and ask God to forgive you.
That’s what putting your faith in Jesus really means — believing that He is who He says He is, repenting of your sins and surrendering your life to Him as your Lord and Saviour.
This means that when our time on earth is done, and we all stand before God, we will be declared innocent instead of guilty — not because of anything we did — but because we put our faith in Jesus, and the price He paid for us.
Life won’t all of a sudden be perfect once you give your life to Jesus, hard times might still come, but He promises His presence with you — right there in the difficulty, He brings purpose, hope, joy and the power to overcome in the midst of life’s storms.
And best of all: it comes with the unshakable promise of eternity with God.
5 - THE RESPONSE
So, how do you respond to all of this?
It’s actually quite simple — take a moment to pray.
Ask for forgiveness, surrender your life to Jesus, and receive the precious gift He paid the price to give you.
Here’s an example of a prayer you can use, or you can speak to Him in your own words — straight from your heart:
prayer of salvation
Heavenly Father,
I thank you that You sent Your Son, Jesus, to pay the price for my sins.

I no longer want there to be distance between us, so I surrender my life to You.
I’m sorry for the sins I’ve committed and I ask for Your forgiveness.

I put my trust in Jesus and acknowledge Him as both the Lord and Saviour of my life from this day forward.
I ask that Your Holy Spirit fill me and help me live the life that You have planned for me.
Thank You for Your incredible love, for the gift of salvation, and my new life in You.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Jesus says in Luke 15:10:
"...I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents".
ALL OF HEAVEN is rejoicing if you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart.
